American Community Survey 2010 Hawaii Selected Population Profiles (3-Year Estimates)

“Selected Population Profiles” are available for geographic area that have a total population of 500,000. If a particular race/ethnicity/ancestry or country of birth has a population of at least 65,000 in an area with an overall population of 500,000, that group will be included in the one-year data profiles for that area. The three-year estimates produce profiles for special populations as small as 20,000 in areas of 500,000 or more. Some profiles are also available for Honolulu County on the U.S. Census Bureau website,

Polynesian
– Includes the categories of Native Hawaiian, Samoan, Tahitian, Tongan, and Tokelauan. “Polynesian” is a cultural group.

Native
– The native population includes anyone who was a U.S. citizen or a U.S. national at birth. This includes respondents who indicated they were born in the United States, Puerto Rico, a U.S. Island Area (such as Guam), or abroad of American (U.S. citizens) parent or parents.

Foreign born

– The foreign-born population includes anyone who was not a U.S. citizen or a U.S. national at birth. This includes respondents who indicated they were a U.S. citizen by naturalization or not a U.S. citizen.

Eastern Asia

– Includes China (including Hong Kong and Taiwan), Japan and Korea.

South Eastern Asia

– Includes Myanmar, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
