2022 HOUSING AND SUBCOUNTY POPULATION ESTIMATES RELEASED

Posted on May 18, 2023 in Featured, Main, Whats New Releases

The U.S. Census Bureau released its Vintage 2022 housing units estimates and subcounty population estimates today.

The release contains housing unit estimates for states and counties and population estimates for cities and towns. Because Hawaii does not have incorporated places, the Urban Honolulu Census Designated Place (CDP) is the only subcounty area in Hawaii for which the Bureau provides population estimates on an annual basis. Hawaii population and housing estimates are available at our population estimate data page.

Between April 2020 and July 2022, Hawaii’s population decreased by 1.0% while the number of housing units increased by 1.2%. During this period, housing unit growth outpaced population growth for all counties except Hawaii County.
