Hawaii Industries and Economic Data
Posted on Feb 4, 2015 in Whats New Releases“Learning About Hawaii’s Industries and the Economic Data From the U.S. Census Bureau”
The public is invited to a free workshop being held on February 25th in downtown Honolulu.
This interactive workshop will provide a brief overview of the Census Bureau’s data relating to the Hawaii economy. It will focus on the Bureau’s largest economic program, the Economic Census, and will provide an update on the information that is currently available as well as what’s coming out soon. Highlights of the important industry, geographic, and other changes that will impact data users will be discussed. This workshop will also profile the Bureau’s business.census.gov web site, a valuable resource for businesses, chambers of commerce, and economic development staff.
On January 27th, the Bureau released its first local area data from the 2012 Economic Census covering the Manufacturing and Real Estate and Rental and Leasing sectors in Hawaii. The data for Hawaii’s other economic sectors will be released in the coming months. This workshop will explore changes in these two sectors (and changes in other sectors that are coming soon) in more detail.
Mr. Andrew W. Hait, the workshop presenter, serves as the Data Product and Data User Liaison in the Economy-Wide Statistics Division at the U.S. Census Bureau in Washington, D.C. With over 28 years of service at the Bureau, Andy oversees the data products and tools and coordinates data user training for the Economic Census and the Census Bureau’s other economic survey programs
The Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism (DBEDT) and the U.S. Census Bureau are co-sponsoring this event. Space is limited, so please sign up early. Participants are encouraged to bring their own laptops or other mobile devices for this workshop. We will provide free wireless Internet (WiFi) access in the training room.
