DBEDT is hosting a free census data training workshop on Monday, September 23rd from 9 AM to noon in downtown Honolulu. This interactive workshop, Your Community by the Numbers: Race, Ethnicity, Ancestry, and Foreign-Born Populations, will be taught by Eric Coyle of the U.S. Census Bureau. The workshop will teach participants how to access census and ACS data about race, ethnicity, foreign-born, and ancestry groups using a variety of online tools from www.census.gov/. Participants will also learn how the Census Bureau collects and publishes data on these topics. The workshop will feature hands-on training with the Census Bureau’s newest data tool, data.census.gov.

Prior to the workshop, there will be a 2020 Census update by our local U.S. Census Bureau Partnership Specialist, Elisapeta Alaimaleata. The update will include information about what the 2020 Census is, when the 2020 Census is happening, and how participants can answer the Census. Elisapeta will also discuss the work that is being done in your communities and neighborhoods to encourage everyone to fill out the upcoming Census.
